Semi-Precious Stones
Semi-Precious Stones are natural. They come from all over the world. They are categorized into two types – mineral stones and organic gemstones. Mineral stones are defined as being opaque/semi-opaque stones and translucent stones. Agate, Carnelian, Jasper, Lapis and Unakite are a few examples. They are in the opaque/semi-opaque category, which means they allow a small amount or no light to pass through them.
Translucent stones allow light to pass through them. Some examples are: Citrine and Amethyst.
Organic gemstones are products of plants and animals, rather than having a mineral origin. Amber, Coral, Mother-of-Pearl are examples of organic gemstones.
Many cultures believe that semi-precious stones have healing powers. If you have any further information about these or other gemstones we would love to hear from you!
