Glass Suncatchers by Gail Coupal
My art glass pieces are made entirely by me in my home studio. All glass is individually hand cut. The images are cut from thin copper with a pair of scissors or x-acto knife. The heat from the firing turns the copper to a deep rich red. I design each piece as I go along, therefore, no two light catchers are ever the same. I usually hold an image in my mind, such as Raven, and then simply begin to create. This gives a freshness to each item and a feeling of joy for me as I work.
The suncatchers/lightcatchers I create have animal images which tell a story unique to it's nature. As the viewer, we supply the story according to our view of the world. No two lightcatchers are the same, just as no two days in our lives are the same.
