Hand Turned Pens and Gifts by Jeff Ward
One morning in the winter I checked my mail at the college to find that another instructor's mail had accidently been left in my box. Among the letters was a catalog from a company that sells wood turning equipment. Seems my colleague has an artistic avocation, making fused glass jewelry and wood bowls.
With my background in jewelry, gift, and home accessory manufacturing from companies I owned in the 80s and 90s, I perused that catalog like a 10-year-old in a toy store at Christmas, and ended up equipping a home shop with many things from those past manufacturing experiences, along with new technologies I had not used before.
My goal was to take found objects and other items I could craft, and turn them into useful, fun and whimsical gifts for family and friends. I discovered a passion for design and construction, and my production far exceeded the gift needs of even my large family.
So I decided to widen my family to include all of you who also enjoy hand crafted unique gifts.
